Inter League Result

Tuesday 8th april 2014 will not go down as a momentous day for the league as the representative team were humbled in the second leg of the Jeff Walton memorial trophy by the Lancashire & Cheshire league
3-2 down from the first leg, and playing at the home of West Didsbury, the MFL needed an early goal to get back into the tie but the visitors had the better of the first half and looked the hungrier
Still, it was only a one goal deficit and a single strike would have changed the picture but it was the away side who grabbed the lead on 39 minutes when Garry Chadderton scored from 20 yards out. That made the aggregate score 4-2 to L & C leaving a massive uphill battle for the second half but things were to get worse in injury time as Callum Franklin scored from close range following a cross from the left.
Half Time: Manchester League 0-2 L & C (Agg 2-5)
There was an immediate improvement in the second half as MFL set about trying to pull something back and that they did with a close in headed goal by Baxter from a cross on the right.
Still two goals the deficit, things were looking brighter now for the league and a number of good chances were created but several last ditch blocks by the visitors defence kept us out.
But the mini revival was short lived as on 59 minutes, the tie was completely over as Liam Bunnion scored for the visitors making it 3-1 on the night.
Worse was to follow on 79 minutes as Calum Franklin grabbed his second and in the final minute, the humiliation was complete with Liam Bunnions' second goal
Final Score: Manchester League 1-5 Lancashire & Cheshire League
Agg; 3-8
